DESCRIPTION:DAR PRESENTS 2025 CONSTITUTION WEEK PROGRAM\n\n“Celebrating America 250! & Honoring Our Constitution and Revolutionary Patriots”\n\nThis lively event of historical interest will take place during Constitution Week on Thursday\, Sep 18th from 5:30\n\nto 7:00 PM at the Safford Library ANNEX\, behind the train depot at 814 S. Central Ave. All are invited to\n\nattend\; admission is free. Refreshments will be provided by a chapter of great cooks and The Rustic Barn Bakery.\n\nDAR is gearing up for the 250th celebration of our country’s birthday in 2026. Cindy Clonts\, DAR chapter vice\n\nregent\, will highlight DAR plans for this event and help create an awareness of this patriotic milestone.\n\nPaula Price\, a DAR member with a passion for history\, will share events that led to the writing of the Declaration\n\nof Independence and heart-rendering stories of the sacrifices of the signers. This will be followed by an awareness\n\nof the numerous ups and downs of that document after it was signed in 1776. Twenty books about the journey of\n\nthis document will be distributed for young people and adults. Families are encouraged to attend in order to\n\nreceive a copy.\n\nTalana Hooper\, DAR chapter historian and well-known local historian\, will share stories of two of the thirty\n\nrevolutionary patriots in her family line. Those stories will demonstrate the sacrifices made by those who fought\n\nfor the freedoms that have been passed down through the generations.\n\nRuth Hernandez\, DAR chapter librarian and another passionate historian\, will show that two or more cultures\n\nwithin a family line can have those who supported America’s move toward independence. Seventeen of her patriots\n\nare in her mother’s English line. She will share one of those patriots who survived many tragedies in his lifetime.\n\nObserving Constitution Week\, which was initiated by DAR in 1955\, is a way to remember the importance of the US\n\nConstitution.
